An introduction to the holistic detox and the signs of a toxic body

How would you like to feel fitter, healthier and better than ever before? Sounds good doesn’t it? Just imagine having a glowing complexion free from blotches and spots, glossy shinning and soft hair and no tension build-up in your muscles… Sounds too good to be true?, well its not. It can often be achieved by undertaking an holistic detox to help the body rid itself of stored toxins.
A toxin is any substance that creates an irritating and/or harmful effect in the body, undermining our health and impairing its proper function. Toxins are present everywhere and can be absorbed into the body externally or internally.
Externally, you can pick them up from the environment by inhaling them, eating them, or through physical contact. Internally, we produce them by the various bodily processes associated with living. Although we can not totally avoid them, we just need to recognise where they come from and how we can help our bodies to process and clear them out. We all live busy, stressful lives rushing around at a hundred miles an hour trying to fit 40 hours into a 24 hour day, so is it any wonder that our bodies need a helping hand from time to time?
If you have one or more of the symptoms listed below it can be a sign that your body is toxic and in need of a natural cleanse or detox:
1. A susceptibility to regular colds, infections (e.g. candida), sore throats, catarrh and allergies (e.g. hay fever, Eczema).
2. Constant aches and pains, for example, with lower backache, regular headaches and migraines and joint pains.
3. Difficulty in thinking clearly and concentrating, anxiety, depression, regular fatigue (especially after meals), frequent mood swings (e.g. sudden irrational anger) and insomnia.
4. Poor digestion with flatulence, constipation, nausea, bad breath, a furred tongue, strong smelling urine and body odour.
5. Skin rashes, blotchy skin, bleeding gums, black/white heads, cellulite, water retention, dark circles under the eyes and heavy night sweats.
