A Critical Part of the Best Detox Diet

What is the best detox diet? It’s the one that does the most good for you and the one that is safest for you. The best detox diet will get you feeling better in the shortest amount of time. I’m not here campaigning for or against it. However as you continue to research the best detox diet I want you to consider something very important.
First, let’s see if this is you. You are feeling rundown, listless, and out of sorts. Or you are struggling against a sickness or disease that is slowing you down. Or you might just want to do some preventative maintenance by eating better. From what you’ve heard, going on a detox diet seems like a good idea.
As you may know the things you want a detox diet to get rid of, toxins are any chemicals that are harmful to the body. We accumulate toxins by eating food, drinking water and even breathing air.
Our liver and kidneys are designed to process toxins which are then eliminated through sweat, urine and feces. However, as good a job as our liver and kidneys do, some believe that toxins get stuck in our bodies. And their presence in our stomach, intestines, lymph system, and even in our skin and hair could be the cause of headaches, upset stomachs, and general tiredness.
So going on a detox diet is thought to be a good way to finally get rid of all the chemical poisons left hanging around. There are many claims that it can prevent and cure disease, give you more energy, and clear your head.
Of course, simply eating a diet that is lower in fat and higher in fiber can lead many to feeling better too.
Here’s the important thing to know: No matter which one you choose it is highly likely that the most beneficial body cleansing programs involve the use of water.
But remember that I said that we ingest toxins through a variety of foods, by breathing, and by drinking water?
Let’s consider your water choices. Would using tap water be a good idea?
Some contaminants found in tap water include chlorine, pesticides, herbicides, cleaning products, dry-cleaning, gasoline, lawn chemicals, and pharmaceuticals. Most water treatment plants use old technology that does not do a good enough job trapping those.
So if you choose tap water, I strongly recommend a high quality water filter.
Is bottled water any better?
One report on bottled water says between 60% and 70% of all bottled water is exempt from the bottled water standards of the FDA. And even when those standards apply, there are weaknesses in them.
For example, the FDA allows a certain amount of coliform bacteria in bottled water. And chemicals that can leach from plastic including plastic bottles, such as phthalate, are exempted by the FDA bottled water standards.
So even you drink bottled water in a detox diet, it should be run through a high quality water filter.
These facts about tap and bottled water quality should tell you that such water ought to be purified as much as possible before adding it to the best detox diet.
